Uncertain Times
We created a series of illustrated tour posters for King Crimson, developing a collection of character-led artworks built around a shared playing-card-inspired structure.
Each design uses a mirrored portrait, with the character repeated and inverted around the centre of the composition. A consistent illustrated frame, King Crimson ribbon and geometric linework connect the series, while changing characters, clothing, props and colour palettes give each artwork its own identity. Small surreal details — from owls and elaborate moustaches to exaggerated hairstyles and unexpected accessories — add individuality to each piece.
The repeated format allowed the collection to grow while remaining immediately recognisable as part of the same series. Together, the posters create a distinctive visual system for the tour artwork, balancing consistency with enough freedom for every illustration to become its own character.
